Panther Transit to Chapman University’s Mission

“Chapman University is committed to sustainable development and to graduating responsible global citizens.”

With this mission, Chapman University needs to focus its efforts on making a change to add a transit system on campus.

Transit system will make a positive contribution to the environmental, social and economic sustainability of the communities they serve. If there was a transit system introduced in Chapman, there will be more parking spots, better accessibility for students , better traffic and less pollution! This makes not only Chapman but the city Orange a better place!

Campus transit is also a better alternative to trying from the residence to Dodge to main campus to the law school. I know that not only students, but faculty members will benefit from the introduction of a transit system

Transit reduces environmental effects: an average transit trip results in significantly less energy use and pollution
production per person than the same trip made by private automobile.(BCTransit 7) With that, we are engaging to contribute to our environment and helping to make a change and improve sustainability in the city.

Dear Dean Price, I hope you can take note of this issue to initiate a “Panther Transit” plan for the Chapman community.

  1. This is a great idea. The larger Chapman gets the worse the parking situation. Especially with Chapman’s plans to expand it would be great if it had its own transit system that was timely and would be better on the environment. The public transportation in Orange County is significantly lacking and if I tried to take OCTA to Chapman I would be late all the time and it would take me an hour to go 7 miles. I hope Dean Price seriously considers this!
